Volunteer Activities in Japan

Affiliated Business Management Dept. "Music Outreach"

Starting in fiscal 2008, Dai-ichi Life has been organizing "Music Outreach (*)" in collaboration with the Triton Arts Network, an accredited NPO established by Dai-ichi Life.
In these activities, we have negotiated with Shinagawa Ward Office to provide more people with access to music. We hold the Christmas Concert featuring professional performers, primarily for children with disabilities and their parental guardians in the local communities.
In fiscal 2019, the event was jointly hosted as group-wide activities by four companies, namely The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company, Limited, The Dai-ichi Frontier Life Insurance Co., Ltd., The Neo First Life Insurance Company, Limited and SOHGO HOUSING Co., Ltd.

Dai-ichi Life Osaka Minami Branch "Participation in a boccia (*) meet as volunteers"

Dai-ichi Life is positively working on initiatives for promoting health. As volunteers, employees of Osaka Minami Branch participated in a boccia meet held in the local community to help improve the residents' health and support the disabled. During the activities, the employees were able to deepen their understanding of support for the disabled and the fun and depth of boccia as a sport.

  • * Boccia is a Paralympic sport designed for people with severe cerebral palsy or with equally severe disabilities affecting motor skills.

Assistance activities for disaster-stricken areas

As part of the activities to support victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake, employees of Dai-ichi Life engaged in on-site support activities at seafood and agricultural farms immediately after the quake.
The support activities are continuing through internal sales events in which products related to the affected areas are sold, the provision of menus with locally grown ingredients at staff canteens, business networking events, etc.
After the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes, Dai-ichi Life donated microscopes to elementary and junior high schools in Mashikimachi, Kumamoto Prefecture. We engage in activities to respond to the needs of local communities with extensive disaster losses, such as participation as volunteers in disaster relief following typhoon No. 15 and 19 in 2019.
Dai-ichi Life will continue to reach out and connect with people's hearts in the affected areas and intend to assist in the recovery and reconstruction of the affected regions.
