Concerts by The International Mozarteum Foundation and an exhibition of items from its collection were held at the event "Mozart: A Journey of Sound: How a Prodigy Became a Master" in May 2023. The event took place at The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company's Hibiya headquarters in Tokyo. Through the music and the exhibition, Mozart's life from his childhood to his later years was presented.
Two violins that Mozart actually used—his childhood violin and his concert violin from his Salzburg Period, the "Klotz Violin"—were brought to Japan. In the lobby, they were played in concert with a fortepiano, recreating a performance from Mozart’s time. Prize winners of the 43rd Junior Classical Music Competition in Japan played the childhood violin. Each performance was streamed live on the Dai-ichi Life Group's official YouTube channel.
In addition to the violins, a lock of Mozart's hair was displayed in the exhibition for the first time in Japan. There was also a set-up for families, with a free violin-playing corner featuring a professional instructor and a panel that allowed visitors to compare their height with Mozart's.
For this event, concerts were also held at Dai-ichi Seimei Hall (Tokyo) and MS&AD Shirakawa Hall (Nagoya) in cooperation with NPO Triton Arts Network and Daido Co., Ltd.
